THE BIG DIFFERENTIATOR FOR GREEN TEAMS OVER OTHER CARBON OFFSETS PROGRAMS IS THAT RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATES (RECS) ARE HIGHLY REGULATED AND RECOGNISED BY GLOBAL ORGANISATIONS AS THE MOST LEGITIMATE WAY TO OFFSET ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION AS PART OF THEIR SUSTAINABILITY GOALS.
What are RECs?
Renewable Energy Certificates are a market-based instrument that certifies the bearer (Iberdrola) owns one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable energy source (Wind Power).
Once the power provider has fed the energy into the grid, the REC received can be sold on the open market (Green Teams) as an energy commodity. The RECs earned are sold to other polluting entities (My Net Zero, LiveTiles & Human Link customers) as a carbon credit to offset their emissions.
