MY NET ZERO: BLOG

CHECK OUT OUR LATEST BLOGS CHATTING ALL THINGS NET ZERO.

Tahlia Nolan is Manager, Market Modelling and Policy, at Iberdrola Australia. Here she breaks down carbon offsetting and talks to My Net Zero about how you can get involved at home and at work.
From electrifying our homes and installing solar we can head towards net zero in our energy usage. It might not happen tomorrow, but we can start today. Here’s where to begin. Energy is all around us and sure it’s comfortable and convenient but it also contributes massively to our carbon footprint. The good news is, through modifications and energy-efficient measures, we can save energy and money, and in a dream world get as much of our energy consumption as possible sourced from renewable providers. So, while there are plenty of small daily habits we can change to help reduce our emissions, these three key areas are just some to focus on if you’re serious about reducing your energy usage.
Whether you consider them big or small these seven sustainable life hacks will get you one step closer to being a My Net Zero hero. We’ve officially kicked off 2022, and while Omicron and Novak Djokovic’s visa debacle have dominated the headlines, climate change is still our biggest issue. Many of us spent January easing back into work and closing out the summer holidays (if you didn’t spend yours in isolation), so now is a great time to contemplate the age-old idea of a New Years’ resolution. This year we have just one - to be more green every day and protect Mother Earth. If you’re already carrying a reusable water bottle and sipping your piccolo out of your own coffee cup, well done. Here are seven more ways to make this your most sustainable year yet.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

In the spirit of reconciliation, My Net Zero acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We seek to draw on this rich heritage to better understand our collective duty to nurture and care for the environment.
