METHODOLOGY
My Net Zero’s Green My Team product addresses your employee related emissions – in the Office, on their Commute and at Home – through Renewable Energy Certificates* and high-integrity carbon offsets.
COMPLEX CALCULATIONS DESIGNED WITH SIMPLICITY
To calculate your employee related emissions we use thorough methodologies and calculation models validated by renewable energy experts (such as Iberdrola) and the most credible industry sources – with clearly laid out assumptions based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol averaged data method.
All calculations are forward-looking estimates and the design of the Green My Team calculation model accounts for core variables, reducing the margin of error and usage/carbon underestimation.
My Net Zero removes barriers to action through a process designed to be simple, have immediate impact, and underpinned by our core principles – transparent, accountable and measurable.
ADDRESS SCOPE 2 AND 3 COMMITMENTS
Our methodologies are measurable and reportable against your Scope 2 and Scope 3 sustainability commitments.
What is Scope 2?
Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of energy purchased from a utility provider. In simple terms, it’s all emissions that are related to your purchase of electricity and gas (please contact us if gas is part of your Scope 2 calculation).
What is Scope 3?
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions (not included in Scope 2) that occur in your organisation’s value chain, including your employee's work-from-home footprint and commute.
Green the electricity powering your employees at your physical offices or commercial premises – your largest direct source of Scope 2 emissions.
CALCULATION FUNDAMENTALS
- Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) pricing is sent biannually. Or by the volume of RECs procured
- RECs are procured as whole units
- 1 REC = 1MWh (1000 kWh) or 0.65 T co2
- To meet the 100% Green Electricity benchmark X MWh per year must match X RECs (LGCs)
ASSUMPTIONS
- Retailer mandatory LGC contribution is 20%
- Carbon is calculated using the NEM average set by the energy regulator in the selected country/ geographical location
REQUIREMENTS
- Commercial Energy Bill displaying Energy Usage and time period (days)
Green your employee’s at their home and deliver on your Scope 3 commitments.
CALCULATION FUNDAMENTALS
- Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) pricing is sent biannually. Or by the volume of RECs procured
- RECs are procured as whole units
- 1 REC = 1MWh (1000 kWh) or 0.65 T CO2 [Based on Australian NEM Average 2023]
ASSUMPTIONS
- Assumptions based on the Australian energy market Retailer mandatory LGC contribution is not included offering a 20% buffer in the calculation to support the GGP average data method
- The average energy use for employees is based on Residential energy consumption benchmarks from the Australian Energy Regulator
- The core 100% work-from-home model is based on 23.74% of the average energy use for an employee and the 8-hr working day and 260 working days in the year. Accounting for all electricity used in the home during that time.
- Carbon is calculated using the NEM average set by the energy regulator in the selected country/ geographical location.

Green your employee-related emissions as they travel to and from various work locations. Deliver on your Scope 3 commitments.
It is possible to source RECs & Offsets from Green My Team based on your own assumptions and calculations.
